Safety & Readiness: Emergency Preparedness
Chapel Pointe’s Emergency Preparedness Plan
At Chapel Pointe, the safety and well-being of our residents is our highest priority. We believe that preparedness leads to peace of mind, and we are committed to keeping both our residents and their designated family members informed about our emergency procedures. This page provides essential details about our Emergency Preparedness (EP) plan, ensuring that you know what to expect and how to stay connected during an emergency.
Communication During an Emergency
We understand how important it is for families to stay informed and connected. During an emergency, communication will be managed as follows:
- We prioritize keeping our main number, 717-249-1363, operational.
- Updates will be shared with residents via Channel 956 and with family members via email.
- The designated emergency contact will receive priority updates.
- If necessary, alternative communication methods will be used to keep residents and families informed.
The best way to get updates about your loved one is to dial 717-249-1363, or call:
- Directly to the resident in Independent Living
- Personal Care nurses station: 717-713-2235
- Family Place Team Room: 717-713-2225
- Fellowship Place Team Room: 717-713-2229
- Friendship Circle Team Room: 717-713-2226

Response to COVID-19 and Other Illnesses
Our culture of person-centered care means that our residents and staff are our top priority. We do everything within our power to stop the spread of illnesses, including COVID.
We make all COVID-related decisions following the guidance and mandates of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH).
We seek to keep the Chapel Pointe family as informed as possible. Every Wednesday, residents can tune into our internal TV channel for a televised update. On the first Friday of each month, we send an email newsletter to each primary resident representative, which we encourage them to share with other family members who desire updates.
Testing
We follow state testing mandates for staff and residents. We also have a process in place to diagnose and test residents in Personal Care and the Households if they present any symptoms of illness.
If we encounter positive test results, we follow all regulations and work closely with anyone who may have been exposed. However, we value the privacy of our staff and residents, so we will not publicly release information about individual diagnoses.
Vaccination
Chapel Pointe encourages all residents, staff, and visitors get a COVID vaccine, but vaccines are not required. For more information about these vaccines, including fact sheets, visit the CDC’s website.
Visiting Chapel Pointe
We encourage family and friends to visit while helping us to prevent the spread of all illnesses, including COVID. Visitors should abide by these practices:
- Check their temperature upon entering the main building.
- Always use proper hand hygiene.
- Do not visit if they have symptoms of illness or if they’ve tested positive for or been exposed to COVID.
Masks are typically not required, but please check posted signs at the entrances to the main building and Skilled Care Households to determine if additional restrictions are in place at the time of your visit.
