Meet Resident Richard Foster

“They say to plan based on your life expectancy. Well, I’m planning on living to 107. I’m not just bumming around!” Richard jests.

At 64 years old, Richard Foster is the youngest resident living at Chapel Pointe. Never marrying or having kids, he wasn’t sure what to do or where to go after retirement. However, after a little research and only a virtual tour due to the COVID pandemic, Richard knew he wanted to move to Chapel Pointe as soon as he could.

(We're once again offering individualized in-person tours, but you can still check out the virtual tours Richard perused here.)

The convenient location near Interstate 81 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, small businesses and antique shops, bicycle lanes throughout town, and countless restaurants in the area originally drew Richard to make the move to Carlisle. The many amenities like air conditioning (which he never had before!), supplied dishwasher and garbage disposal, two bedrooms, Heritage Gardens Café, and on-site fitness center all attracted Richard to Chapel Pointe specifically.

He firmly believes that “this place has the best deal with the best value. The amenities are crazy!”

“I don’t even have time to do everything that I want to do. I get up at 2 a.m. to get everything done; it is crazy how much there is to do here!” Richard exclaimed.

When moving to a retirement community, Richard knew he wanted to move somewhere where his lifestyle wouldn’t have to change and he could still do all of the things he did before. He found that at Chapel Pointe.

He works out in the Bedford Terrace Fitness Center every single morning. He loves having a gym within walking distance of his apartment with everything he needs for a good workout. Richard also enjoys riding his bike and going to the flea market six days a week.

Richard still has big plans for his future and refuses to let his age or stereotypes hinder them. In the next 10 years, he wants to buy a house in Florida and spend his winters in the Sunshine State. He hopes his 70s are full of traveling, cruises, and unforgettable adventures.

With his dynamic lifestyle, busy schedule, and go-getter attitude, Richard is thriving in his golden years and has zero plans of slowing down!
