Senior Living News & Events

to encourage your friends, family, coworkers, or acquaintances

While everyone occasionally enjoys recognition for their angelic looks, carefully chosen outfit, or perfectly sculpted hair, as a faith-based senior living community, we believe each person’s true value lies in being uniquely created by God. This drives our mission to create A Loving Way of Life for all residents, staff, clients, and the greater Chapel Pointe family.

Inspired by National Compliment Day, on January 24, we combed the Bible for characteristics worthy of affirmation and made a list to help you begin thinking beyond the physical so you can encourage others at a deeper level.

Next time you compliment someone, try something like this:

  1. You’re courageous! I admire how you depend on God as you walk through life with Him. You live out Deuteronomy 31:6.

  1. You have a great sense of humor! Just as Sarah’s laughter in Genesis 21:6 was contagious, your hilarity lifts up people around you.

  1. You are a great listener! Because you’re “quick to listen and slow to speak” (James 1:19), I know I can trust you and tell you anything that’s on my mind.

  1. I appreciate how generous you are. Like the account of Barnabus in Acts 4:36-37, you give all that you have to walk alongside others!

  1. You have the gift of encouragement (Romans 12:7-8). I always feel better after spending time with you.

  1. You are a hard worker. Proverbs 14:23 reminds me of you: “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” (NIV) Even if you don’t see the results of your hard work immediately, know that your efforts have an impact.

  1. You’re full of wisdom! Proverbs 4:6-7, reminds me of you: "Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding." (NIV)

  1. You comfort me. As 2 Corinthians 1 describes, I know you’ve gone through hardships, and you comfort others because of the hope and strength you’ve found through those experiences. I’m grateful for the way God is working through your life in this way.

  1. I love the calming presence you have on the people around you. Your ability to “wait patiently for the Lord” and not fret when people carry out “wicked schemes” around you amazes me (Psalm 37:7). The peace in your life is contagious.

  1. You are great at delegating. I appreciate this trait because I feel like you trust me and value me (Exodus 18:21).

  1. You are a strong, servant leader. Because you are uncompromisingly focused on doing justice, others around you also flourish (Proverbs 29:4).

  1. You epitomize integrity. Your honorable language and moral actions show that you guard your heart against evil (Proverbs 4:23).

  1. The world would be a better place if everyone showed compassion like you. It’s easy to show compassion to kind people, but like the father in Luke 15, you show compassion to the people whom others don’t wish to be around.

  1. Just as God’s creation points to who He is (Romans 1:20), your art and creativity reveal your heart and inspire people around you.

  1. I’ve never met anyone with a heart as big as yours. You’ve demonstrated that you’re willing to give up everything for the people you love (John 3:16).

  1. You’ve been gifted with a knack for organization. Just as God unifies one body of unique believers (Ephesians 4:15-16), you sort through messes and make beautiful, functional systems that work!

  1. I love how optimistic you are. It’s clear that your hope and confidence come from a deep source (Psalm 71:5).

  1. You are helpful. I see how you make sacrifices “to do good and share with others” (Hebrews 13:16).

  1. You are such a genuine person. Unlike the hypocrites described in Matthew 23:25, you’re honest about what’s going on in your life. I know that I’m seeing the true you when we interact.

  1. When I think of you, “steadfast” comes to mind. Whether it’s your unshakable faith (1 Corinthians 15:58), dedication to your job, faithful love for family, or perseverance in relationships, you never give up.
