The senior living field in the United States is experiencing rapid and necessary growth. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of Americans age 65 and older will soar from 58 million in 2022 to 82 million by 2050. Alongside this growth, the number of people living with dementia is expected to more than double, creating an unprecedented demand for personal care for seniors (also known as assisted living).
At Chapel Pointe, we believe in meeting these growing needs with excellence, vision, and a focus on encouraging seniors to live full lives. This spring, we began converting several offices into four private personal care studios and one spacious suite. Designed with comfort and accessibility in mind, each new accommodation features:
- A private, easy-to-navigate bathroom
- A generous living area
- Ample natural lighting
- Extra storage
- Convenient access to shared community spaces
A Grand Opening with Ice Cream and Community
On August 28, residents and staff gathered for a joyful Grand Opening Ice Cream Social to celebrate the completion of these new spaces. Guests enjoyed ice cream sundaes while taking self-guided tours of the studios and suite. Informational displays provided myths and facts about personal care, and take-home materials helped everyone to learn more about this level of living.
The celebration wasn’t just about new rooms—it was about vision and faith. CEO Kent Peachey, Executive Director Brad Weiser, and Community Pastor Steve Motter cast vision for the spaces, dedicated them to God’s work, and reminded the community of the hope found in Scripture.
Kent Peachey reflected:
“Ecclesiastes 3 tells us, ‘There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.’ We’ve all experienced the truth of that passage in our own lives. It continues, ‘a time to tear down and a time to build,’ which perfectly describes the season we’ve just come through with this project. As we tore down offices, relocated them, built these new rooms, and navigated each phase of construction, there were many opportunities to worry. But Philippians 4:6 reminds us that we don’t need to be anxious about anything—instead, we can bring every request to God and thank him for all he has done.”
Executive Director Brad Weiser added, “We are in a constant state of renewal at Chapel Pointe because needs and preferences change over time. These new rooms give incoming residents more personal choice, and with this added inventory, we can better meet the growing demand for Personal Care.”
Building with Care in Mind
One unique aspect of this project was that construction took place in the middle of our residents’ home. General contractor Funk Construction and their subcontractors went above and beyond to minimize disruptions, keeping sound and dust to a minimum while respecting the people who call Chapel Pointe home. In fact, they frequently engaged residents in conversation about the project and even reminisced about home projects from the past.
Brad Weiser expressed his gratitude, “I’m so grateful for Funk Construction and their subcontractors who recognized that they were working in people’s homes and not some green or brown field project. They adjusted their habits and even language accordingly and really became like short-term adopted Chapel Pointe family members.”
Looking Ahead
With finishing touches now complete, Chapel Pointe anticipates receiving the occupancy permit in the coming weeks. Soon after, the new residents who have been eagerly waiting will be able to move into their beautiful new homes.
At Chapel Pointe, every brick, every renovation, and every new space is about more than construction—it’s about creating a place of purpose, comfort, and faith-filled living for older adults.
